What should I do if my windscreen is damaged?
We recommend that you assess the extent of damage prior to driving the vehicle. Factors you should consider when accessing the safety of your car are:
SIZE: how large is the affected area. If the affected area is smaller than a $1 coin, then the windscreen may be able be repaired rather than replaced. If the damaged area is larger than 50mm then we do not recommend driving the vehicle as the structural integrity of the glass may be compromised.
Location: if the affected damage is in the driver’s main field of vision or making it hard to see out of the windscreen than we do not recommend that you drive the vehicle
What is the cost of a new windscreen?
Each vehicle has its own unique factors that need to be kept in mind when quoting a replacement windscreen. Some factors that come into play are the age of the vehicle, what molds are required for replacement and the size of glass. I have a leaking windscreen
Some signs of water leaking through your windscreen are wet floor mats, staining on the inside of the windscreen and a smell of mold. It is important to repair the affected area as it can lead to rust, wire damage and mold. We repair leaking windscreens by removing the windscreen and surrounding mold to inspect the affected area. Once we have accessed the damage, we can come up with a plan to reseal the windscreen.
